1-Piece Aluminum Drive Shaft for 03 - 09 Cummins
ATTENTION (17 DEC 2011): We are currently OUT OF STOCK on
the 1-piece aluminum shafts for 2003 - 20007 trucks with automatic transmissions. We are expecting a 2 - 3 week delay in getting
these back in stock due to a manufacturer shortage. We will remove this message when they are available. Any order placed
for automatic shafts will be refunded until we get them back in stock.
CAUTION:
We are aware of numerous part numbers on various internet forums regarding 1-Piece Drive Shafts. There are only 4
correct part numbers for these applications and many of the ones we see posted on the forums are incorrect for the specific
application. Use caution, as once this part is installed, it is not returnable.
UPDATE
(04 June 2011): We are now able to produce custom 1-Piece Aluminum Drive Shafts for
all models, EXCEPT 2WD QC/LB and 2WD MC/SB trucks. Those trucks exceed the maximum running length of 93". For all other
trucks, please follow the link below for the custom built shafts.
Custom 1-Piece Aluminum Shafts
This drive shaft replaces
the problematic 2-piece drive shaft found on 3rd Gen Quad Cab / Long Bed and Mega Cag / Short Bed trucks.
This
drive shaft is a direct replacement for the 2-piece unit found on these trucks from the factory. Simply remove the 4 bolts
securing the drive shaft flange to the pinion yoke, remove the 2 bolts holding the carrier bearing to the crossmember mount
and remove the original shaft. Once the original shaft is removed, simply remove the 4 bolts for the carrier bearing mount
and remove it. The new 1-piece shaft simply slides in and gets bolted to the pinion yoke.
The drive shaft
is MASSIVE; almost 6" in diameter and made of Alcoa Seamless 6061-T6 aluminum.

Not for use on 2WD trucks. The size of the drive
shaft WILL cause contact with the crossmember under certain load conditions in 2WD trucks.
For manual transmissions,
this will only fit trucks with the G56 transmission. Trucks with the NV5600 have reported that the drive shaft is approx 2"
too long and bottoms out on the slip yoke. We are currently working with a local driveline shop that has agreed to buy the
correct adapters to cut, balance and reweld the shaft for use on the NV5600 trucks, but as of now, this option is not yet
available.
For 2003 - 2004 trucks, you MUST insure that you have the HO motor and 11.5" rear axle. These drive
shafts WILL NOT work with the SO motor and the 10.5" rear end.
This item is oversized and there is a $60 shipping
charge per drive shaft that will be applied at checkout. Drive shafts going to Alaska or Hawaii will cost $70 for shipping.
Drive shafts going to Canada cost $90 to ship. Shipping is via FedEx 2nd Day.
