Doghouse Diesel 3rd Gen Power Package 2: 525 - 600 HP
Stepping up from our 450 - 525 HP package is our 525 - 600 HP package. This is about the last point in which you can easily
run a single turbo and have it easily streetable. Beyond this, you need make a decision whether you want to run a large single
and suffer the daily driving characteristics or go to twin turbos, as well as doing injection pump modifications, 5"
exhaust, aftermarket intercoolers and additional transmission mods.
Please understand that you MUST have gauges
and supporting tranny mods to run this package. A simple torque converter and valve body WILL NOT stand up behind this package.
You MUST have AT LEAST a triple disk TC, VB, flex plate, billet input shaft, hub, bands, struts and anchors.
This
package is easily capable of 50+ psi, so head studs and valve springs are REQUIRED.
The package includes:
High Tech Turbo QD64 64/14/71 (64mm compressor / 14cm housing / 71mm turbine wheel) DDP 90 HP Nozzles Smarty S06
POD Hamilton 110# Valve Springs ARP Head Studs AirDog 150 AFE Stage II Intake w/ Pro-Guard 7 Filter
The QD64 is a direct bolt on turbo and comes with the wastegate solenoid shorting plug and a machined exhaust flange
to bolt to the factory down-pipe using the OEM v-band clamp. No exhaust mods are necessary.....however, 03 - 04 trucks WILL
want to upgrade to a 4" exhaust due to the factory exhaust necking down to 3.5"
Although not required,
aftermarket exhaust and intake manifolds are recommended.
525 - 600 HP. This is the range that you will be able
to effectively control EGT's and do everything a truck is suppossed to do. Is it capable of more power than this? YES, but
you'll be pushing the limits of it's ability to control EGT's.
The turbo has a 64mm compressor wheel which is streetable
but will spool a little slower than stock, but the turbo has a MUCH broader efficiency map and a much higher airflow capability
than the HTB2. The turbo WILL clean up the smoke output in this power range.
